Privacy Policy

Fairweather is built on a simple principle: your data is yours. We don't track you, we don't profile you, and we don't sell anything about you. Here is exactly what happens.

Location

Fairweather uses your location only while you are using the app, to fetch the forecast for where you are. Your location is sent to Apple's WeatherKit to retrieve weather data. The patterns Fairweather learns about your days stay on your device — they are never uploaded to us or to anyone else.

Calendar & Reminders

If you grant access, Fairweather reads your calendar to show the weather alongside your appointments, and can create reminders for you. This happens entirely on your device. We never see, store, or transmit your events or reminders.

Weather data

Weather forecasts come from Apple WeatherKit. Apple's handling of the location sent with weather requests is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

The rain radar and the minute-by-minute rain view are served by Rainbow, which receives the coordinates of the area you are looking at in order to return the right map tiles. It receives nothing else — no identifier, no account, no history.

Purchases

Subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are processed by Apple. We use RevenueCat to manage entitlements — that is, to know whether your subscription is active. RevenueCat receives a purchase identifier from Apple, never your name, email, or payment details. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy for details.

Usage statistics

Fairweather counts a few anonymous events — the app opening, a screen being reached — through TelemetryDeck, so we can tell which parts are worth improving. This is the only way a one-person app learns what to build next.

A signal carries no location, no saved places, no calendar content, and nothing you typed. It carries no advertising identifier and no IP address: the identifier is salted and hashed on your iPhone before it is sent, so it cannot be reversed or matched with anything else. TelemetryDeck is a European company and stores this data in the EU.

Crash reports

When Fairweather crashes, it sends a technical report to Sentry so the bug can be found and fixed. A report contains a stack trace — the list of code that was running — and your iPhone model. That is all.

It carries no location, no saved places, no calendar or reminder content, and no identifier for you. Fairweather's weather requests contain coordinates in their web addresses, so the recording of those addresses is switched off entirely rather than filtered. Reports are stored on Sentry's European servers, and you can turn crash reporting off at any time in Settings › Privacy.

No advertising, no profiling

Fairweather shows no advertising, shares nothing with data brokers, and never links what it knows with third-party data about you. We do not build a profile of you and we have nothing to sell. The four companies above — Apple, RevenueCat, Sentry and TelemetryDeck — each receive only what their single job requires.

Children

Fairweather is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.
